Claudio López: "I get very emotional coming back here"

Claudio López is one of the VCF Legends who received a warm welcome back to Mestalla at the recent Centenary game. The Argentinian also spoke to VCF Media to reflect on his time at Valencia CF.
Coming to Valencia CF
I knew that at some point in the future I wanted to have the opportunity to go to Europe or somewhere else. I was sure that I wanted to do it. I knew it would be a tough, new experience, and a case of getting used to a lot of new things, but I wanted to take on that challenge. I think that in the end it was the best decision I made, to come here to progress.
The special nature of the club
I think that the club itself is like a family. We saw in the march the other day, that there was every generation together. Everybody knows each other. They tell stories to the future generations. That love for the club, and their presence the other day, makes it like being a family.
Winning trophies
That team were very aware of what we had to do. We worked very hard for it and we never gave up. We knew that our play would see us through. When things started to go well, others follow, for the simple reason that you're in good shape. We always understood what we had to do. I think that was the big secret.
The emotion of the Centenary
I get very emotional coming back here. It makes me remember some very happy days of my life, and some unforgettable things. You always have the desire to experience them again. It's unbelievable to be inside the stadium and see the fans in the stands again. It's a chance to share it with my family, and they are unrivalled moments.
